A developmental relationship with a more experienced professional, or
mentor, is a proven critical success factor for professionals, particularly
for diverse individuals. Effective mentoring offers coaching, counseling,
and sponsorship that enables protégés to navigate the
professional landscape more effectively.
Simmons Associates provides consultation and training to insure a successful
mentoring program. The Simmons Mentoring Model includes guidelines to
assist clients in setting up a best practices program, with effective
selection criteria, matching of mentors and protégés,
parameters and guidance for effective mentor-protégé relationships
and systems to oversee the day-to-day administration of a mentoring
program. While most mentoring is conducted one-to-one, optional mentoring
programs include Mentoring Circles, Peer-to-Peer Mentoring and E-Mentoring.
Key Objectives – Participants will:
- Understand the purpose, elements and process of the mentoring program
- Explore the subject of diversity and inclusion, and the significant
role that it plays in a successful mentoring relationship
- Learn about the subtle forces, or Vectors™, that can help
or hinder the protégé’s career
- Develop strategies and personal action plans to overcome negative
and capitalize on positive forces
- Enable participants to negotiate, build, and maintain effective
developmental relationships
