An ombudsman provides a confidential, neutral and independent process
to listen to employees' concerns and acts as a sounding board for potential
conflicts.
Simmons Associates provides Ombudsman Services for employers seeking
to offer their employees an avenue to voice concerns related to issues
such as unfair treatment, harassment or discrimination without fear of
possible repercussions. This affords the organization and the employee
an opportunity to begin a problem-solving process that can improve overall
morale, productivity and employee engagement as well as avert costly lawsuits
and/or complaints to outside agencies.
Our Ombudsman Services are trustworthy, reliable and risk-free for employees
seeking confidentiality.
- Is always available. Simmons Associates provides an
800 number that allows for 24/7 access from anywhere in the United States
and a number that can be called by employees from anywhere in the world.
- Lends an Ear. Sometimes employees just want to talk
and know that someone is listening. Our ombudsman will listen and help
clarify complex situations. Our first role is to be a consultant and
coach to the employee and help guide that individual through what can
be a complex maze of options.
- Provides Information. Our ombudsman serves as an information
center and resource for employees. We provide backup information on
any concern employees may have. We will guide employees toward the right
policies and available resources and services.
- Becomes a "Practice Partner". Sometimes employees
need to practice potential scenarios before going into a meeting or
discussion. Our ombudsman will become a role-play partner and will give
ample feedback and guidance.
- Acts as an Intermediary. With permission from the employee,
our ombudsman will serve as a mediator between the employee and the
organization, initiating problem-solving sessions and providing guidance.
- Serves as "Climate Reporter". The Simmons
ombudsman will provide regular reports to the client on issues such
as areas of concerns and trends within the organization so that appropriate
steps may be taken in the form of revised or new policies and procedures.
